You can earn the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator credential from anywhere in India. The exam fee is US$200 (about ₹22,400 with 18% GST) and a retake is US$100 (about ₹11,200 with GST). You register in Trailhead Academy, pay on Pearson, and sit the exam online with a remote proctor or at a Pearson VUE test center. Salary data for Salesforce Administrators in India puts the median base pay around ₹7 lakh a year, with a wide range by experience and city.

What the certification is
The credential is now called Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator (it used to be Salesforce Certified Administrator). The official exam guide lists 60 multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored ones, 105 minutes, a 68% passing score for the English version, and no prerequisite. Indian candidates take it in English, because scheduling is offered in English or Japanese only (Schedule an Online-Proctored Exam).

What it costs from India
Salesforce prices the exam in US dollars: “All administrator exam prices are USD 200 or JPY 30,000 (tax excluded). The retake price is USD 100 or JPY 15,000 (tax excluded)” (Salesforce Certification Exam Pricing). Pearson charges individual candidates in India 18% GST on exam bookings and vouchers (Pearson VUE India GST FAQ). In rupees, that works out to:

Rupee figures use ₹94.95 per US dollar, the ECB reference rate for October 30, 2026. Your card converts at its own rate on the day you pay, and many Indian cards add a small foreign-transaction markup, so expect your statement to differ by a few hundred rupees. If your employer pays, ask them to buy a voucher: Pearson doesn’t charge GST on sales to GST-registered businesses in India (the business accounts for it under reverse charge), and they get a proper invoice.
The real cost is mostly the things around the fee:
- Retakes. Each one costs about ₹11,200 with GST. You get three attempts per release cycle. After a first fail you wait 24 hours, after a second fail 14 days, and after a third you wait for the next release cycle (Retake Policy). Each retake has its own fee, so preparing well is the cheapest plan.
- Study material. Trailhead is free, and so is the Admin Cert Lab on this site. You don’t need a paid bootcamp to pass.
- Your setup for an online exam. Pearson OnVUE needs Windows 10 or macOS 14 or later, a webcam and microphone, one screen, and at least 6 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up (Pearson OnVUE for Salesforce). If your home connection is shaky, a test center can be the cheaper choice than a forfeited fee.
ID rules that matter in India
Your Trailhead Academy legal name must exactly match your government photo ID, and it can’t be changed once you’ve scheduled. Pearson accepts an international passport, a plastic driver’s license, a national or state ID card, and approved Aadhaar cards under its Aadhaar ID policy (Pearson OnVUE). Digital, copied or expired IDs are not accepted. If your Aadhaar name and your Trailhead name differ even slightly, use your passport or fix the name before you register. Salesforce Administrator salary in India
Salary sites use self-reported data, so treat these as ranges, not promises. Here is what two of them say, with their sample sizes and dates:

The job market: what actually gets you hired
Salary reports for the role in India come from consulting and IT services firms as well as Salesforce itself: AmbitionBox lists admin salaries at Deloitte, Persistent Systems, Genpact and Cloud Analogy, for example. Whoever is hiring, a few things move a fresher’s application from the pile to the shortlist:
- Proof you can build. Trailhead badges and a superbadge show hands-on work in a real org. Mention what you built, not only that you passed.

A simple plan
- Read the exam guide and note the eight section weights.
- Work through Trailhead in a free org, section by section. The 6-week study plan gives you a schedule.
- Take timed practice: the admin practice test shows where you’re weak.
- Register only when you’re scoring comfortably above the passing mark, then book a slot that fits your best time of day. Select India Standard Time when you book: the appointment follows whichever time zone you pick, and if you get it wrong you have only 8 hours after registering to open a case to fix it (Reschedule and Cancellation Policy).
