Hey friends,
The only required prerequisite for the Salesforce Certified Agentforce Sales Consultant exam is the Salesforce Administrator certification. Salesforce also recommends at least a year of hands-on Salesforce experience with sales processes before you sit the 60-question, 105-minute exam.
Everything in this post comes from the official Agentforce Sales Consultant exam guide. I'll cover what you need before you book, what the exam looks like, and how I'd decide if you're ready. For fees and retakes, see my Salesforce certification cost guide.
What are the prerequisites for the Sales Consultant exam?
One hard requirement: you must hold the Salesforce Administrator certification. Salesforce's newer exam guides call it the Platform Administrator certification (the Service Consultant guide uses that name), so treat the two names as the same credential.
The rest is recommended, not enforced. The exam guide describes the target candidate as someone with 1+ years of Salesforce experience, working with sales processes and building business solutions, plus:
- A solid understanding of the consulting process and project scoping.
- Experience with the full project lifecycle of an Agentforce Sales implementation.
- Deep knowledge of Agentforce Sales features, from Opportunities and Leads to Forecasting and Territory Management.
- A solid understanding of data management and database concepts.
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements in discovery.
What does the exam look like?

No references are allowed during the exam, onsite or online.
The exam questions align to the Summer '25 release, according to the current guide. Unscored questions are mixed in randomly and don't affect your result.
What does each section cover?
| Section | Weight | What it tests |
|---|---|---|
| Consulting and Implementation Strategies | 25% | Discovery, change management, deployment, adoption and project management |
| Practical Application of Agentforce Sales Expertise | 24% | Lead to Opportunity to Quote to Close, security model, products, price books, quotes, multi-currency |
| Sales Lifecycle | 20% | Choosing the right Agentforce Sales feature for a requirement, plus KPIs in reports and dashboards |
| Data Management | 18% | Migrations, integrations, scalability and data quality |
| Predictive and Generative AI | 13% | Which AI tools exist in Agentforce Sales, and Trusted AI Principles |
Notice that the biggest section isn't a feature at all. A quarter of the exam is consulting skill, so admin knowledge alone won't carry you.
A bit about how I study. Focus on Force was my favorite resource on the way to 17 Salesforce certs. I started the traditional way, reading the study guide first and testing second, but rapid-fire practice tests are what actually made things stick. That's the loop Cert Lab is built on: quick questions, then explanations with current links and screenshots, then go again.

Here's the self-check I'd use. If you can answer yes to most of these, book the exam:
- Can I design a lead-to-cash process for a new client, including which objects and automation to use?
- Can I pick between role hierarchy, sharing rules, account teams and opportunity teams for a security requirement?
- Can I explain products, price books, quotes and what changes with multi-currency?
- Can I plan a data migration and name the tool I'd use?
- Can I tell predictive AI apart from generative AI in Agentforce Sales?
- Am I consistently scoring well on timed practice tests?
What training does Salesforce recommend?
The exam guide points to a Trailmix, Prepare for your Salesforce Agentforce Sales Consultant Certification, plus two Trailhead Academy courses: Essentials for New Lightning Experience Administrators (ADX201) and Administer, Extend, and Automate Salesforce (ADX211).
My Agentforce Sales Consultant study guide maps all five sections to the topics that matter most.
Do you have to maintain the certification?
Yes. You complete the Agentforce Sales Consultant maintenance badge on Trailhead once a year. Miss the due date and the certification expires.
What mistakes should you avoid?
- Booking before you pass Admin. It's the one hard requirement.
- Studying only features. Consulting and implementation is the largest section at 25%.
- Ignoring Data Management. At 18%, migrations and data quality are worth real points.
- Forgetting the yearly maintenance badge once you pass.

- The Salesforce Admin certification guide if you still need the prerequisite.
- Salesforce lead capture with Web-to-Lead, a Sales Lifecycle topic.
