How Much Does the Agentforce Specialist Exam Cost?

The Agentforce Specialist exam costs USD 200 to register, plus tax. A retake costs USD 100, plus tax. In Japan, it's JPY 30,000 and JPY 15,000.

Those numbers come from Salesforce's own Agentforce Specialist exam guide. The sticker price is the easy part, though. What you really want to know is what it'll cost you, so that's what the rest of this post covers.

What's the real total if I don't pass the first time?

Every retake adds another USD 100 plus tax. Salesforce's retake policy sets a retake at 50% of the original price.

That's my own math on the official fees. But it shows why the first attempt is the cheapest one you'll ever take.

There's also a time cost. You get 3 attempts per release cycle (a release cycle is the stretch between Salesforce's seasonal releases). After a first fail, you wait 24 hours to register again. After a second fail, you wait 14 days. After a third, you wait for the next release cycle.

How much tax will I pay on top?

It depends on where you live. Salesforce's exam pricing page says certification exams are taxable under local laws. Pearson (the company that runs the exam) collects the tax when you register.

So budget a bit above USD 200. Salesforce doesn't publish a tax rate, and I won't guess one for you.

If you live in Japan, you pay in Japanese yen.

Can I get the exam cheaper?

Maybe, if your company has the right relationship with Salesforce. The pricing page says Signature, Premier, or Partner customers may be eligible for a discounted exam voucher.

Ask your Salesforce account team or your partner admin before you pay full price. (It's a short email, and it might save you real money.)

Salesforce doesn't list the discount amount, so I can't tell you how big it is.

What does the USD 200 actually get me?

One sitting of the exam. Per the exam guide, that's 60 scored multiple-choice questions plus up to 5 unscored ones, in 105 minutes. You need 72% to pass.

You can take it online with a proctor (an exam supervisor) or at a testing center. There's no prerequisite certification, so there's nothing else you have to buy first.

Salesforce does recommend the Platform Administrator and Platform App Builder certifications. They're recommended, not required.

Do I have to pay to keep the certification?

You don't retake the exam. The exam guide says you complete the Agentforce Specialist maintenance module on Trailhead once a year. If you miss the due date, the certification expires.

The guide doesn't list a fee for the module, so I'm not going to put a number on it.

Is that expensive compared to other Salesforce exams?

No, it's the middle of the range. Here's what the pricing page lists (all USD, before tax):

How do I avoid paying twice?

Study where the points are. The exam guide gives AI Agents 35% of the exam, more than any other section.

Prompt Engineering and Data 360 Fundamentals are 20% each. Testing, Governance, and Multi-Agent Orchestration make up the last 25%.

Also check that your study material matches the current guide. Right now it's aligned to the Spring '26 release.
