Hey friends,
For a small support team that mostly needs tickets, a shared inbox, a knowledge base and SLAs, Freshdesk costs less per agent and is pay as you go: Freshworks lists Growth at $19, Pro at $55 and Enterprise at $89 per agent per month billed annually. Salesforce Service Cloud costs more per user, with Starter Suite at $25, Pro Suite at $100 and Core at $195 per user per month, and it pays off when support has to sit on the same platform as your customer data and automation.
I wrote this around cost, because that is the first question most small teams ask. Every price and feature below comes from Freshworks and Salesforce pages I read on October 28, 2026, so it is a comparison of plans and documented features, not a hands-on review of Freshdesk's screens. Prices change, so check the pages before you buy.
Freshdesk vs Service Cloud at a glance
| Freshdesk | Service Cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | Growth, $19 per agent a month, billed annually | Starter Suite, $25 per user a month |
| Middle | Pro, $55 | Pro Suite, $100, and Core, $195 |
| Top | Enterprise, $89 | Advanced, $395, and Max, $550 |
| Free trial | 14 days, with Enterprise plan access | 30 days, no credit card |
| Commitment | Pay as you go, no cancellation fees | Most products use annual contracts |
| Built as | Ticketing, shared inbox, portal and knowledge base | A service solution built on the Salesforce CRM |
Salesforce says Core replaces Enterprise Edition, Advanced replaces Unlimited Edition and Max replaces Agentforce 1 Edition, so an older comparison that uses the old edition names will not match today's pricing page. For what each current edition adds, see my guide to the Service Cloud editions.
What a small team actually pays
Per-agent prices only help once you multiply them. This table uses the listed per-user prices with annual billing, per month, before any add-ons. The plans are not feature-for-feature equivalents, so read it as what you pay for each starting point.
| Plan | 3 agents | 10 agents |
|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk Growth | $57 | $190 |
| Freshdesk Pro | $165 | $550 |
| Salesforce Starter Suite | $75 | $250 |
| Salesforce Pro Suite | $300 | $1,000 |
| Salesforce Core | $585 | $1,950 |
At 10 agents, Freshdesk Pro against Salesforce Core is $550 against $1,950 a month, a gap of $16,800 a year. That gap is the price of what Core is built for, which I cover below. If you are comparing Starter Suite with Growth, the gap is small: $250 against $190 a month for 10 users.
Freshdesk's monthly billing is higher. Freshworks lists Growth at $23, Pro at $66 and Enterprise at $107 per agent per month when billed monthly. Its Omni product, which Freshworks lists for omnichannel support, starts at $29 per agent per month billed annually.
Costs that are not in the headline price
Both vendors sell add-ons, and a small team can lose the price advantage here if it is not watching.
Freshdesk, per Freshworks's pricing page:
- Freddy AI Agent includes the first 500 sessions, once per account. Additional sessions are $49 per 100.
- Freddy AI Copilot is $29 per agent per month on Pro and Enterprise.
- Connector app tasks are $80 per 5,000 tasks, and MCP actions are $15 per 1,000 actions.
- Day passes for occasional agents are $2 on Growth, $7 on Pro and $12 on Enterprise.
Salesforce, per its Service Cloud pricing page:
- Starter Suite is a starting price, and Salesforce notes that transaction fees apply.
- Pro Suite lists Web Services API as an additional $25 per user per month and Flow Builder as 5 flows per org.
- Enhanced Messaging is an additional $75 per user per month on Core and Advanced.
- Agentforce for Service and Workforce Management are listed as available for purchase on Core and Advanced.
The Salesforce page also says Pro Suite is billed annually with a contract required. Ask each vendor for a quote that includes the add-ons you expect to use, not just the plan price.
Where Freshdesk fits better
I would start with Freshdesk when these describe you:
- You want the lowest per-agent cost. Growth lists ticketing and shared inbox, a customer portal and knowledge base, reporting, threads and tasks, and roles and permissions, which covers a lot of small-team support.
- You want to step up gradually. Pro adds multilingual helpdesk, custom dashboards, intelligent routing, multiple SLA policies and external collaborators. Enterprise adds skill-based routing, sandbox, audit logs and allowed domains and IP whitelisting.
- Some people only need occasional access. Freshworks documents occasional agents, such as a CEO or field staff, who do not need a user license and use a day pass each time they log in. Its support article says every Freshdesk plan comes with 3 free day passes, and that replying to a notification by email does not use a pass.
- You want to leave easily. Freshworks says there are no cancellation fees, and a downgrade or cancellation takes effect at the end of your term.
One thing to check: the Growth plan on Freshworks's pricing page is described as AI-powered service over email. If you need chat or voice, look at the Omni plans, where Freshworks lists a voice add-on.
Where Service Cloud fits better
Service Cloud costs more because it is a different kind of purchase. Salesforce describes it as the service solution built on its CRM, and the Starter Suite bullet list on the pricing page includes lead, account, contact and opportunity management. Here is when I would pay for it:
- Support needs the rest of your customer data. If account owners, opportunities and service history belong in one place, Service Cloud puts cases on the same platform. My Service Cloud overview covers the features, and the guides to case management, Omni-Channel routing and Knowledge go deeper on each.
- You expect to customize and automate. The pricing page lists Flow Builder as unlimited on Core, Advanced and Max, and 1 partial sandbox per org on those editions.
- You will grow into a contact center or other service lines. Max lists digital channels, Partner Contact Center, Workforce and Quality Management, and 10 IT Service Desk licenses per org.
- You want Salesforce's AI tooling. Max lists the full AI suite and 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year.

Can you use Freshdesk with Salesforce?
Yes, and some teams keep Salesforce for sales and use Freshdesk for support. Freshworks publishes a Salesforce Connector app for Freshdesk with two parts, and the setup article explains both.
- The widget. Freshworks lists it as free. In a ticket, it shows Salesforce details for the requester by email address, and agents can create leads, contacts, tasks, cases and opportunities from the ticket.
- Data sync. Freshworks lists it as paid. It uses recipes to sync contacts and accounts one way or both ways, at $80 per 5,000 tasks, and you can connect a sandbox or a live account.
Setup starts in Salesforce: you create a connected app with OAuth settings, then install the app in Freshdesk with its credentials. If you plan to sync a lot of data, Freshworks also documents Freshdesk API limits that depend on your plan: 100 calls per minute on Growth, 400 on Pro and 700 on Enterprise, counted across the whole account. For the general question of which sync approach to pick, see Salesforce data integration.
Mistakes small teams make when comparing
- Mixing annual and monthly prices. Freshdesk Pro is $55 billed annually and $66 billed monthly. Compare like with like.
- Ignoring the add-ons. AI sessions, Copilot, day passes, connector tasks and, on the Salesforce side, API and messaging add-ons all change the bill.
- Buying the entry plan and needing the next one. Freshworks lists multiple SLA policies and intelligent routing under Pro, not under Growth, so check your must-haves against the plan lists.
- Using old Salesforce edition names. Enterprise, Unlimited and Agentforce 1 are now Core, Advanced and Max, so a price quoted for an old name may not match the current page.
- Paying full price for people who rarely log in. If a handful of colleagues only look at tickets occasionally, check how each vendor handles them before counting them as full agents.
How to choose: five questions
Salesforce's own service page says small businesses should prioritize quick implementation, ease of use, integration with your other software and tools that can grow with your organization. I turn that into five questions:
- How many agents, and how fast will you grow? Multiply the per-agent price by your team size, as in the table above.
- Does support need your sales data? If yes, price Service Cloud and the connector route side by side.
- Which channels do you need? Email only points to Freshdesk Growth. Chat and voice mean pricing Omni or Service Cloud channels.
- Who will administer it? A tool you cannot configure is not cheap.
- What does the plan cost with the add-ons you expect? Include AI sessions, day passes, API and messaging add-ons.
Then test both. Freshdesk's trial gives you 14 days on the Enterprise plan, and Salesforce offers a 30-day Service Cloud trial with no credit card. Run the same 20 real tickets through each.

FAQ
Is Freshdesk cheaper than Salesforce Service Cloud?
Per agent, yes. Freshworks lists Freshdesk Pro at $55 per agent per month billed annually, and Salesforce lists Core at $195 per user per month billed annually. The plans differ in scope, and add-ons change the total.
Does Freshdesk have a free plan?
Freshworks's pricing page lists Growth, Pro and Enterprise and a 14-day free trial. I did not see a free plan listed on that page.
How much is Salesforce Service Cloud per user?
Salesforce lists Starter Suite at $25, Pro Suite at $100, Core at $195, Advanced at $395 and Max at $550 per user per month.
Does Freshdesk integrate with Salesforce?
Yes. Freshworks publishes a Salesforce Connector app with a free widget and a paid data sync for contacts and accounts.
What are Freshdesk day passes?
They let an occasional agent log in for a day without a full license. Each login uses one pass, and replying by email does not.
Does Salesforce have a free trial for Service Cloud?
Salesforce says you can try Service Cloud free for 30 days with no credit card.
Which is better for a small business?
If you need tickets, a knowledge base and SLAs at a low per-agent price, Freshdesk fits. If support must live with your CRM data and you will customize, Service Cloud fits.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Nick
