Hey friends,
The Agentforce Specialist exam has 60 scored multiple-choice questions, plus up to 5 unscored ones. You get 105 minutes, and the passing score is 72%.
All of that comes from the official Agentforce Specialist exam guide. Here's the whole format on one screen, then what each piece means for you on exam day.
| Detail | What the exam guide says |
|---|---|
| Questions | 60 multiple-choice, plus up to 5 unscored |
| Time | 105 minutes |
| Passing score | 72% |
| Delivery | Onsite at a testing center, or online proctored |
| Notes allowed | None, printed or online |
| Prerequisite | None |
| Languages | English, French, Japanese |
| Release | Aligned to Spring '26 |
How many questions do I need to get right?
Salesforce gives the passing score as a percentage, not a count. 72% of 60 scored questions is 43.2.
The guide doesn't say how that gets rounded. So I'd plan on needing 44 correct, which means you can miss about 16. (That's my math, not an official number.)
What are the unscored questions?
The guide says up to 5 extra questions are there to gather performance data. They're mixed in at random and have no impact on your result.
Here's the thing: you can't tell which ones they are. So treat every question as if it counts.
Is 105 minutes enough time?
If you see all 65 questions, that's about 1.6 minutes each. That's my math again.
So if one question is eating three or four minutes, it's costing you time you'll need later.
Honestly, I'd practice with a timer before the real thing. Then the clock won't surprise you.
Is the exam open book?
No. The guide says no hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the exam.
You take it either onsite at a testing center or online with a proctor (an exam supervisor). Same rule either way.
What sections are on the exam, and how much does each count?
Six sections. The weight tells you roughly how many of the 60 scored questions come from each one.
| Section | Weight | Approx. questions |
|---|---|---|
| AI Agents | 35% | 21 |
| Prompt Engineering | 20% | 12 |
| Data 360 Fundamentals | 20% | 12 |
| Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance | 10% | 6 |
| Governance and Observability | 10% | 6 |
| Multi-Agent Orchestration | 5% | 3 |
The question counts are weight × 60. They're my estimate, so don't treat them as exact.
Each objective in the guide starts with a verb, and the verb tells you the question style. "Explain" or "Identify" points to a concept question. "Given a scenario" means you'll read a short business situation and pick what to configure.
AI Agents is the scenario-heavy one. It covers Agent Script and hybrid reasoning, filters and variables, standard and custom subagents (the guide still calls them topics) and actions, channels like email, voice, and Slack, and when to use an Employee agent, a Service agent, or the Agent API.
Prompt Engineering covers Prompt Builder, template types like field generation and flex, grounding (giving the AI your own data to answer from), and the Trust Layer, which is Salesforce's set of security and privacy features for AI.
Data 360 Fundamentals covers the Agentforce Data Library plus chunking, indexing, and retrievers.
The three small sections cover Testing Center, moving agents and templates from sandbox to production, agent monitoring and analytics, and multi-agent protocols like MCP (Model Context Protocol) and A2A (Agent-to-Agent).
For how to split your study time across these, see how to pass the Agentforce Specialist exam.

I love that the guide spells this out. You're not expected to know:
- Configuring or fine-tuning LLMs (large language models) in depth
- Coding languages like Apex or Python
- External AI tools
- Transformer architecture
- ROI calculations or white space analysis
- Marketing Cloud, Heroku, Agentforce Commerce, MuleSoft, Tableau, Slack, Quip, or Industry solutions
Slack shows up twice, which can be confusing. The way I read it, you need to know that agents can connect to Slack as a channel, but you don't need Slack product experience.
Who is the exam written for?
The guide describes a candidate with about 1 year of Salesforce platform configuration experience, including Data 360. They've built agents and created prompt templates in Prompt Builder.
Salesforce recommends (but doesn't require) the Platform Administrator and Platform App Builder certifications. It also suggests earning Agentblazer Status on Trailhead.
Wondering whether that's you? I wrote up how hard the Agentforce Specialist exam is separately.
What happens after I pass?
Once a year, you complete the Agentforce Specialist maintenance module on Trailhead. Miss the due date and the certification expires.
Fees and retakes are in Agentforce Specialist exam cost. For every other cert, see the Salesforce certification study guides.
