Hey friends,
The closest official benchmark for a Salesforce business analyst is the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics figure for computer systems analysts: a median of $105,850 a year in May 2025, with the lowest 10% earning under $67,340 and the highest 10% over $167,710. BLS doesn't track "Salesforce business analyst" as its own job, so treat that range as the frame and use the rest of this post to work out where you sit in it.
Every number here comes from the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook page for computer systems analysts, which I read in full. I'm not quoting salary-site numbers I couldn't verify.
Why use computer systems analysts as the benchmark?
Because the job description matches. BLS says these analysts study an organization's current systems and procedures and design improvements, work as the liaison between management and IT, and explain complex issues to both. That's the Salesforce BA role: Trailhead describes the BA as an interpreter between IT and business stakeholders who elicits requirements and turns them into solutions.
BLS also lists management analysts, the non-technical cousin, at a median of $101,860. Salesforce BAs land between the two depending on how technical the role is.
What is the Salesforce business analyst salary range?

Half of analysts earn more than the median and half earn less.
By industry, BLS reports these medians for computer systems analysts (May 2025):
| Industry | Median annual wage |
|---|---|
| Computer systems design and related services | $108,270 |
| Management of companies and enterprises | $107,980 |
| Information | $107,240 |
| Finance and insurance | $106,000 |
| Government (excluding state and local education and hospitals) | $100,190 |
Consulting firms (computer systems design) pay the highest median, which lines up with what I've seen: Salesforce partners pay for BAs who can run discovery workshops with clients on day one.
What does an entry-level Salesforce BA earn?
Expect the lower part of the range. The lowest-10% line ($67,340) is a fair floor for analyst roles in general. Where you start depends on whether you bring business domain knowledge, Salesforce hands-on time, or both. For the steps to get that first role, see how to become an entry-level Salesforce business analyst.
The Salesforce Business Analyst exam guide recommends 2 years of BA experience and 2 years of Salesforce experience, though there's no formal prerequisite. Many people start as admins or in an operations role, then move into BA work. My entry-level Salesforce admin jobs guide covers that first step.
What moves you toward senior pay?
- Running discovery yourself. Planning stakeholder sessions, picking the right elicitation technique and getting consensus is 23% of the BA exam for a reason. It's the senior skill.
- Industry depth. BLS notes analysts must understand their industry, like healthcare programs in a hospital or finance at a bank. A BA who speaks the business's language is harder to replace.
- Platform breadth. Knowing what Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Flow and Agentforce can do lets you recommend solutions, not just write tickets.
- Moving up. BLS says experienced analysts can advance to project manager and lead a team of analysts. Computer and information systems managers have a median of $175,140.
A bit about how I study. I loved Focus on Force when I was earning my first certifications, and I learned fastest from rapid-fire practice tests, not from rereading. So Cert Lab is built around fast testing, with every explanation linked to current Salesforce Help pages and screenshots. Certifications got me interviews, hires, raises and moves into new domains. Experience still matters most, so pair the cert with something real you can talk about.

BLS publishes the hourly median too: $50.89 an hour for computer systems analysts. That's an employee wage, though. BLS notes these analysts may work directly for an organization or as contractors, often through IT firms, and contract rates have to cover what an employer normally pays for: benefits, unpaid time between projects and your own taxes and tools.
So don't compare a contract hourly rate to a salary divided by 2,080 hours. Work out what you need per billable hour to match a salaried package, then price from there.
Does the Business Analyst cert raise your salary?
On its own, not automatically. What it does is get your résumé through filters and give you a credible answer when someone asks "how do you know Salesforce BA practices?" Pair it with one or two stories from real projects and it becomes leverage.
If you're comparing roles, my Salesforce admin salary post uses the same BLS-first approach, and Business Analyst vs Administrator compares the two paths.
