Trailhead: free, hands-on learning
Trailhead is Salesforce’s free learning site. Its building blocks fit together: badges (modules) teach one topic in short units, trails string modules and projects into a guided path, and Trailmixes are learning paths you create and can share. Superbadges ask you to apply what you learned to real-world business problems, and certifications like this one prove your expertise.
Hands-on challenges run in a Trailhead Playground. Trailhead creates one for you when you sign up, playgrounds are free, and you can have up to 10 at a time. A playground is a special type of Developer Edition (DE) org, so it has the standard app-building and customization tools.
Exam trap
A Trailmix is not a Salesforce-curated trail. Trails are guided paths built by Trailhead; a Trailmix is a custom path that a person creates and shares.
The Trailblazer Community: learn from people
The Trailblazer Community connects you with other Trailblazers for support and guidance. Following a Trailblazer or topic, or joining a group, puts updates in your feed. Thousands of groups meet online and in person; some are run by Salesforce and many by Trailblazers. You can tag questions with topics to start a conversation.
Two kinds of experts stand out. Salesforce MVPs are product experts and community leaders recognized every year. The Answers Leaderboard highlights people recognized for helpful answers. Developers can also use the Salesforce Stack Exchange, and Salesforce recommends attending Dreamforce.
Predict, then reveal
A new admin wants a ready-made sequence of modules that builds admin skills, but also wants to add two extra modules a colleague recommended and share the list with a study buddy. What should they use?
Show the answer
A Trailmix. They can add a trail plus the extra modules, then share it. A trail alone is fixed by Trailhead.
Exam trap
Questions that mention a safe place to practice usually point to a Trailhead Playground or Developer Edition org, never to production.
